In late June, several members of the 1987 National League champion Cardinals reunited prior to the start of that evening's game vs. the Minnesota Twins.
Joining Red Schoendienst, a coach on the '87 team, were (from the left in the above photo) Ricky Horton, Willie McGee, Danny Cox, Ken Dayley (partially hidden), Ozzie Smith, Scott Terry (partially hidden), and Bob Forsch.
The Twins, of course, vanquished the Cardinals in the '87 World Series.
Current Cardinal Gary Gaetti, who starred for the Twins in the '87 World Series, also was introduced to the good-natured Busch Stadium crowd.
Is it really possible that ten years have passed since Cardinal righthander Bob Forsch took matters into his own hands and threw at Jeffrey Leonard in Game Three of the '87 NLCS?
It seems that as recently as 10 years ago old-time baseball was still practiced in St. Louis.
But perhaps only Giants fans recall that (One Flap Down) Leonard homered in each of the first four games vs. the Cardinals.

A hallmark of the '87 Cardinals was pitching and defense...so it seemed just right that pitchers Cox, Dayley, Forsch, Horton, and Terry, all in their civvies, looked a bit more comfortable during the ceremonies when Gold Glove shortstop Ozzie Smith joined them on the field.
Hey, pitchers don't forget.

Neither will we.
