In search of a mid-winter injection of baseball coverage on Sportscenter and the like, MLB reinstituted the Winter Meetings.
Held in the first week of December, the '98-'99 meetings were a week-long affair at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN.
A highlight of the meeting was Cardinals manager Tony La Russa's chat with the media.
