| All is quiet in Blues country with the
team apparently not interested in any free agents. RW Nelson Emerson signed a 4-year contract with the Atlanta Thrashers last week, and would have been a perfect fit here in St. Louis. If Jim Campbell doesn't come around and if wing propects Lubos Bartecko or Jochen Hecht flop, the Blues could regret not going after a mid-level free agent like Emerson. GM Larry Pleau still has to get new goalie Roman Turek under contract, and he should be commended for locking up C Pierre Turgeon for two years. After Turek is signed (a formality) the Blues will have all their key personnel under contract through at least 2001. |
