posted March 23, 2000 After batting leadoff as the Cardinals DH on Tuesday (03.21) vs. Sidney Ponson and the Baltimore Orioles, Eric Davis (24, below) has been penciled in as the starting rightfielder for today's game (03.23) as the Redbirds host the Florida Marlins in Jupiter, Florida. |

|
Davis, along with J.D. Drew (#7, below), was expected to provide oomph to the middle of the Cardinals batting order in 1999. Drew's inexperience, and Davis' injuries, put the kibosh on GM Walt Jocketty's master plan to surround Mark McGwire with accomplished hitters. Thankfully, in 1999, Fernando Tatis, as they say, brought his big bat to the party. |

| The invitation is still out for Davis, though. And St. Louis must get better production out of the CF and RF positions if they hope to win the 2000 NL Central. |
