The call-ups of the two brightest lights in
Memphis, Adam Kennedy and Rick Ankiel, were announced on August
18.
Kennedy, who was rumored to be one of the
names bandied about in a trading deadling deal with Colorado
(for Darryl Kile?), has hit for average in the 2+ years that
he's played professional baseball.
Kennedy is scheduled to join the Cardinals
in NY on Friday, August 20.

Ankiel, of course, needs no re-introduction.
Except this: at AAA Memphis, the lefthander struck out 199 batters
in 88.1 innings pitched.
Ankiel is scheduled to make his first big
league start in Montreal on Monday, August 23...for Tony La Russa's

Kennedy and Ankiel are 23 and 20 years of
age. With all due respect to ex-NFL coach George Allen--the
future is now.
