There's much to admire at most any baseball game...but baseball fans in St. Louis, and indeed, the world, have taken to admiring each and every Mark McGwire swing of the bat.

But much to Mac's chagrin, the Cardinals have a losing 1999 record, in games in which he homers.

That's not the only surprising factoid regarding McGwire's HR exploits...

For example, of Mac's first 38 HRs in 1999, only three came when he had a three-ball count...and none of those three-ball counts were 3-and-0 (see Table below).
