WINI AM-1420
Murphysboro & Carbondale IL
WINI Radio is the only fulltime AM station in the Murphysboro/Carbondale
market.
WINI serves all of Jackson County and Williamson County, in
addition to portions of Randolph, Perry, Franklin, Johnson and
Union Counties (all in Illinois). The WINI signal can also be
heard in Perryville and Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The economy of the Jackson County and the surrounding area
is highlighted by large scale coal production, agriculture, light
industry, tourism, and education.
The area is an important recreation and tourism region with
numerous parks, lakes, the Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge, and the
vast Shawnee National Forest.
Southern Illinois University, with more than 22,000 students,
is located in the city of Carbondale. John A. Logan College, a
two-year institution, has over 4,000 students.
WINI programming features complete local and regional news
coverage, a variety of local and syndicated telephone-talk shows,
